Despite being for Win95, the CD still works and images are accessable. Not sure if full functionality of the CD is possible on newer Win versions. Only used twice, the second being to check if working for listing here.
"Minerals of the World is based on the superb photographic collection of the
Museum of Victoria in Australia. This new CD-ROM contains over 400 high
resolution pictures of mineral samples and details of over 2300 mineral species.
The CD is designed for all those interested in minerals, including collectors and
professionals, students, in schools, universities, libraries and industry.
Minerals of the World is simple to use with every screen and function available
at the click of a mouse button. Minerals of the World requires an MPC* IBM
compatible personal computer with Microsoft Windows 3.0 or higher.
Mineral species can be selected by name, classification, chemical composition
or any other combination of features. For each species details such as colour,
streak, density, hardness, cleavage, formula, family, Z, crystal, transparency,
habit and properties are included. For over 400 minerals the chemical formula
of the mineral can be viewed and rotated in a 3-D colour simulation.
The CD includes a mineral trivia quiz, a glossary of mineral tenns as well as
animations illustrating the formation of volcanic and alluvial mineral deposits.
